What to Know About Your Vehicle's Lights
All the lights on your vehicle have an important job to do. Brake lights, tail lights, blinkers, reverse lights, and headlights are a crucial part of driving. Lights make you visible, make things visible to you, and allow you to communicate with other drivers. All of a vehicle’s lights make driving easier and safer, and all of them are important...not to mention legally required.
Zarin Truck & Automotive in South Heights, PA understands the importance of fully operational lights and signals. If you have a light that isn’t working, we can fix that. Typically a non-functioning light is caused simply by a blown bulb; we use long lasting and high-quality replacements. Quality matters when it comes to lights...cheap headlight bulbs are often dimmer and less consistent than bulbs of a higher quality. A bulb change is typically painless, and we can have you out the door in a matter of minutes.
However, sometimes issues with your lights aren’t so simple. Common examples of other problems you may have include faulty relays, a bad ground connection, or a worn or broken headlight switch. Luckily, our mechanics have that covered too. The technicians in our repair shop can diagnose problems and replace or repair any faulty equipment you may have.
There’s no established schedule for how often you should change the light bulbs in your vehicle. The most obvious answer is “whenever one blows,” but there are other times as well. It’s a good idea to replace bulbs in pairs; if one headlight is out, the other one probably isn’t far behind it. One problem with blown bulbs is that you may not notice one is blown, since you can’t see them from inside the truck. Check your lights regularly to make sure they are all working properly. If one of your blinkers clicks or flashes rapidly compared to the other blinker, you have an indicator bulb that needs to be replaced somewhere on that side. If one headlight is looking dimmer than the other, go ahead and change it - it’s better to get it done before you find yourself out in the dark.
With the progression of LED and HID technology, lights in modern vehicles have changed substantially in the past decade, and many newer trucks have systems which operate in a completely different way than older vehicles. Zarin Truck & Automotive can fix those too. From a simple bulb change to ballast resistors and relays, we will make sure you are always able to see and be seen. Inspect your truck for any missing lights, and if something isn’t right, talk to us! We’ll have you road ready again in no time.
